LIFELINK / safety communication device

Very Interesting Design Concept, LIFELINK by Peter Murphy

LIFELINK is a saftey communication device for White Water Raft Guides.
It establishes a link of communication between Guides, Basecamp and Emergency Services, which at present, does NOT exist.

Benefiting the safety and cofidence of both Guide and Guest.

Also reducing response times form Emergency Services.

See links below...

Lifelink – communication to the rescue

Please help spread the word, we are all aware at how dangerous white water sports can be.

Perhaps you know a blog or website that would benefit form these links???
Remember to give credit to the designer!!

Perhaps something like this could help prevent future rafting accidents or fatalities ?!?!?!?!

It is interesting to note how this device could be used in other water sports, both private and commercial ?!?!?!?!

peace out

Cost? How does it contact emergency services? Does it work on cellular or satellite connection? What happens in tight canyons where there is no cell connection? Cataract/Deso/Westwater?

I carry SPOT on me at all times for self rescue if I get separated from my boat and left behind. But this seems like a cool device for communication between boats.

cost is unkown at the moment

It connects to the emergency services via a cellular network
If there is no signal, it can use a satellite connection!!!

yes it is definitly a great device for communicating between rafts!! there is a serious lack of communication on the river today which could help prevent potential accidents and fatalities!

im trying to spread the word... do you know of any blogs/ websites that could feature this???

thanks buddy

How does it tap into satellite connection? Do you have to subscribe to a monthly subscription or what? When is it hitting the market?

Do you know if the company was at the Outdoor Show in Salt Lake last month?

Mountain Buzz is probably the biggest WW site out there for our states. I know there are yahoo mailing lists you could email.

It would have both cellular and satellite capabilities!

Its at the concept stage at the moment, but ready to be taken to the next level by interested companies/ individuals!

The man behind the product is a young and upcoming Irish product designer!

The 'monthly subscription' etc... would ultimatley depend on the manufacturers
Perhaps it could be a 'pay as you go' option / a 'top up' deal !!

(IE... you put 10 +/- dollars on the product on an online account which would cover the costs if an emergency distress call is made... and you would 'top it up' whenever necessary)

thanks for the links, ill check them out!

spread the word!
