Kokatat shout out

This is simply to reinforce that kokatat is an amazing company that stands behind their gear!

I sent my dry suit in for gasket repair, pressure test/patch and to have gore-text feet sewn in. My cost was going to run ~300. I was happy to pay because as far as I knew the suit was still in good shape and the thought of dry feet après kayaking sounds damn delightful. They got back in touch and said it was delaminating and they wanted to warranty it - I had no clue it was delaminating. Since they didn't have my model, sans feet and drop seat, they were going to build me one to match the old one...unless I wanted one already in stock with a drop seat. Score! They sent me a brand new one and only charged me for what the feet would have cost ~ 99 bucks! Awesomeness!

That's pretty kickass. How old was the suit?

I had same situation. Sent in 8 yr old dry top for gasket replacement and water check. They replaced w/ new top for free. A few years earlier I'd sent it in for $20 water check and they patched a bunch of spots.

I've concluded that no gore-tex remains leak proof over time. Clothing, pfd, etc causes rubbing which leads to tiny leaks. That is one of reasons gore-tex costs more. They end up paying for a chunk of the replacement costs for Kokatat and Marmot who has similar approach.
