How tight should booties be?

I just got the NRS Paddling Shoe and I feel like they might be to large. There is a little room by the small toes, but the shoe makes contact with the rest of my foot. The ankle band is comfortable, but after a few steps in the river water seeps in. Does anyone happen to have these booties or know if they are suppose to be protection but still get wet.

Water and neoprene go together. The trapped water will warm and provide and layer of protection. But I don't have water sloshing around in my booties. But yes my feet get wet in booties.

If water in your booties continues to cause issues, you can always put beer in the bootie???

Thanks DBK. Never wore booties before so had no clue. I'm sure there will be beer in them soon enough haha
