High seating position in Tomcats..good/bad?

Just tried out a friends Tomcat Tandem by myself and the 1st thing I noticed was the high seating position, as compared to my hardshell and my ForceXL.Is this good or bad for stability? My friend seems to do fine paddling it everywhere but has not paddled anything else, boatwise. Is this high feeling one gets used to and in the long run would actually help with leverage etc, or is it a drawback of this type of ducky?

I run my solo with the center chamber at about half or under depending on the load. I'd reccommend taking the pump with you on the next trip, and try playing around with the pressure of the center chamber. When I load it down with a ton of gear, I run the pressure pretty low. The handling is a little sluggish, but it makes up for it in stability.

i use my tomcat solo for day trips only. you do sit pretty high compared to a hyside or others. i'm just used to it i guess.

try using thigh straps. they really help you feel more in control of it, instead of the feeling of just sitting on top of the thing. tomcats have those webbing loops along the floor. i used 1.5in camstraps for my thigh straps. be sure to use biners on the web loops or the straps will burn through em.

them straps make it into a really nimble duck, even though i'm at the top end of it's weight limit.

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
