Helmets - Any Suggestions?

Hey Everybody:

Heading out to the MF this summer and planning on spending as much kayak time as possible on the water. Any suggestions as to a good durable helmet?

On a related note, any potential issues with Go Pros (where to hang/mount the darned things, I mean)?

Thanks!

I really like my WRSI, comfortable and has taken multiple impacts...you can also attach a face shield.

There is some good info about mounting your Go Pro here:

Awww SM, why? Is it the blonde hair or the fact that I say things like "I'll help collect your gear if you swim" and then I swim? Shoot, I self rescue like a champ!

The one that fits the best. I like Sweet. I would not rely on the WRSI facemask for big impacts if you are looking for a fullface.

I had a sweet for a few years a really liked it, a year ago I got a shred ready fullface and love the helmet, not sure that you need the fullface for the MF but the fullcut is a good option.

We use shred ready helmets and have mounted GoPro's on the top of several.

I have an old scratched up plastic helmet. I couldn't get the GoPro stick-on mount to stay on, so I reinforced it with two pop rivets. I had to file them down so the camera would slide on, but I no longer worry about loosing the camera.

Short answer is Sweet, Shred Ready, or WRSI. If you want temple and/or face coverage, then you're better off with Sweet or SR until WRSI comes out with their new helmet. I did lots of homework and bought a Sweet Rocker Fullface and it didn't fit my head right. Shred Ready doesn't give me a good fit either. So I'm back to WRSI with the subpar face mask attachment. If you go with anyone else, check what type of foam they use. If it's not EPP, think long and hard about what you're buying. WRSI doesn't use EPP which kind of bothers me, but they use a multi-shell system and put research and testing into it, so I hope it does as good a job. Makes me wonder if they're not using EPP because it's more expensive and harder to work with though.
