Gasket Repair in the Field

I was wondering how to replace or repair gaskets while on a multi day trip. I've read kokatat and NRS and bomber gear's instructions, but it seems like you need to be somewhere with an iron and such.

How would you repair / replace a gasket on a multiday trip?

All I have ever seen with a blown gasket is a lot of duck tape in the field.....

Would be interested to hear a more involved fix

Duct tape it if it is just a tear, carefully and it can work a little bit, if it is a total blowout, hope you have a full roll in your drybag and then tape the shit out of your buddies' neck (like wrapping a pipe) it works really well, the movement is a bit restricted but it got my friend out of a deep ass gorge this summer.
As far as actual gasket replacement. if you carry some cotol and aquaseal, dillute the hell out of the aquaseal and wait, it might work, but not recommended.
Good luck

Gorilla tape works pretty good, if you have a little more time you can sew it up with dental floss and then cover it in aqua seal, I had a gasket like that for a full year.

Aqua seal, without a doubt. Much better than fact I blew my neck gasket last fall and sealed the split with aqua seal. I have had to re-apply it a couple of times, but have probably boated 20+ times with it that way.

Carrie bike patches (Not peel and stick). I have seen a gasket get repaired just by gluing on 2 patches, and it held for another week or two of use. The $2 kits come with everything you need. Try to find the biggest size patches you can find (possibly car tire patches???).

One time i tried to aqua seal a part of a bike tire to my split gasket. It worked for like 5 days. A little uncomfortable, but better then duck taping the shit out of your neck. But still would not recomend.

gasket repair

young paddler has it right; Bike repair kit. My friends scoff at this, but what's a gasket made of? I've seen a repair last a year! On multi-day trips I take it out of my gear bag and put it in my stow float
