Dry suits

I have been doing some shopping looking for a dry suit. Considering the prices that the manufactures are charging they are like a small investment. What I want to know is, are the Kokotat suits worth the extra cost versus the say the Stohlquist or Palm suits? Also which fabric seems to hold up to abuse better, the tropos are gortex?

I got an OS systems drysuit, and am very happy with it. It was cheaper than kokatat with a discount as a member of AW. They are more ocean oriented, so they aren't common in whitewater. They do a custom fit also, and mine came out cheaper than the kokatat. Love the breathable fabric.

REI members can get 20% off the GFER. I just got mine. $755 w/ shipping and taxes delivered. As my friend John says when choosing a dry suit, "How much is your life worth?"

Goretex.......I have a kokatat drytop that is 13 yrs. STRONG.

Having said that....I own a palm drysuit and am a HUGE fan of Stohlquist (my wife has one).

Palm - B+
Stohlquist - A-
Kokatat - A+

Hi

I have the IR dry suit and have been very disappointed with it. I'm getting a warranty replacement so hopefully the newer revision will be improved.

Has anybody tried Stolquist's B-Pod? It's got a neoprene neck gasket that they claim is as dry as latex. The reviews I've been able to find confirm that, but I'm still skeptical. Sounds comfy tho, and the price is right...

I've been thinking about a dry suit as well. I found a place where you can rent one to demo before you purchase. Kayak Academy, it's near Seattle. They will ship the suit to you and will only charge for the time you are actually using it, not shipping time. you can have it shipped a few days before your trip to make sure the size/fit is right. Sounds like a good idea, try before you buy.
