Dagger Mamba..Is it worth it??

New to whitewater. Searched the threads. Found nothing. decided to ask since you are the experts.

Guy has a 2008 Mamba for sale and wants six hundred for it. He includes skirt, hip pads, and float bags.

I asked what condition it was in and he said he stopped using it in 2011 and it is in excellent condish.

I wonder if I should wait for a newer and/or less expensive used Mamba (currently in an RPM) or purchase this.

What are your thoughts and thanks for helping me out in advance.

J

600 seems a bit to much IMO. I would stay in the RPM until a cheaper deal comes up.

I was in the same boat trying to find a mamba. $600 seemed to be the going price if its in good shape. I ended up just buying the new model for some extra volume and better outfitting.

FYI, mountain goat in Spokane WA has a new nomad for 685... So, I'd say 600 just might be a bit too high. What are you floating on the west side? Seattle area water is better suited for boats that tend to lean toward the displacement hulls so the planning hull of the mamba might not be the real deal in your neck of the woods.

I am just starting out in whitewater, in the middle fork of Snoqualmie. Bought the RPM, but would like to get another boat so I can bring my wife out. Figure if I am going to buy another boat I might as well get one that is well respected...hence the Mamba.

Danger think about this first.

A: its nice to have a reason to get away from the wife every now and then.
B: if she loves kayaking, she will want to buy and pick her own boat.
C: don't forget get A
D: if you buy a boat for your wife then she really isn't into kayaking or B applies.
E: if your wife is not actively looking at kayaks to buy and you want to get her on the river buy a IK.
F: reread and understand C.
G: I can't tell how important F is.
