Cheap Bomber Sand Stakes

I finally found out what my "sand stake" is called. It is an anchor for mobile homes. Besides being bomber, they are incredibly cheap, around $10-$15. The first link is just for a good photo, but it is too short and it looks like maybe the eye is not fully closed. The second link seems to be a good source for multiple lengths. Some might even be interested in the double disk versions, they just require some additional items to tie to, since they don't have a nice eye.

Is having a sand stake with discs a must. I would think being able to screw the stake into the ground would be a good idea and make it more secure, but has anyone had any problems with a straight stake? Possible pulling out? I would think a straight one would be easier to pack in your boat.

I've used one of these stakes for two years now, and have been very pleased with how secure it feels when mostly or fully screwed in, with the long 30" one. Pretty big to pack, but we just set it on top of everything in a drop bag under decking.
