Cam Straps organization?

De-rigging today and started messing around with my straps. So I am curious how others organize their straps?

My setup:

I keep all my straps in a mesh bag strapped to the side of my cooler for easy/whenever access. My long straps (20', 15', 13', 11', 9',8',6',5') are rolled up in rolls as mentioned on Stupid Guide Tricks (Cam Strap Trick).

Then I use a star topology for my shorter straps (1',2',3,'4'). This helps me just reach into the strap bag and pull out the spider web of straps, lay them on the cooler and right away I am able to get the length I need. I also stamped all my straps with the length number and my initials (straps do tend to walk on the river).

My strap bag, it's attached by two carabiners on cross bars of my frame.

Star topology and 5' 6' straps

My star topology of length branches. I have 4' straps rolled up to have less lose straps.

1-4 foot organization (from buckle down) for easier access:

4' straps branch

5' & 6' are separate branches to reduce the weight of the shorter straps tree

Thoughts? Suggestions? Would love to see how you guys do your setups.

And yes, I love my straps

Alex

Heh, no, a round boat, I only use about 30% of the straps on my rig. I hate not having straps when needed (barging, IK/kayak hauling, people's extra gear, passenger's personal dry bags in the bow, etc).

understandable but thats a lotta straps! the "star" bundles look like they could make a good weapon with all the weight, good for fending folks off yer drag bag.

All my straps go into a mesh bag, and like you, I usually have it in the boat with me. I only roll the longest (9 feet and longer), but I just toss them into the bag. The rest are just a jumbled mees inside the bag. You've inspired me though, I may just organize them this week before I head back out...

I use every strap every time cuz I dont have enough. a frame will stay put with 2-caddy corner. Extras, I'll have to remember that. As for gear, I dont float with anything I care about losing.

actually I just toss em in a mesh bag, sometimes if im bored ill roll em up. I tie the bag in a knot and strap it to the frame.

I put my straps together just like you do except I don't hook the different lengths together. I have two mesh bags. One for shorter straps and one for longer straps. Then I just throw the bags into my everything bag.
