Work in Arkansas River at Canon City
A new pedestrian bridge is being constructed over the Arkansas River in Canon City at the confluence of Sand Creek which is upstream of the Oil Creek Diversion. Construction has already started and will continue until mid to late April. The Contractor will be in and out of the river with equipment, and when they are in the river they will place oil booms in the water, and then remove them when finished. The contractor is also going to construct temporary coffer dams. A lot of the work will be done on land as well, and the contractor will not be in the river on a continuous basis. But boaters should be aware of this if they are heading downstream in this direction.
