Impassable section on San Miguel River
A portion of the San Miguel River one-half mile upstream of the Caddis Flats recreation site has changed course making it impossible for boats, duckies, and other watercraft to safely float through. That section now contains extremely hazardous dense trees and brush in a narrow river channel. The Placerville river access site is the last chance for boaters to take out before reaching the unboatable section.
The San Miguel River downriver from Caddis Flats recreation site is not affected, so boaters should still be able to enjoy what is surely to be a brief boating season on most of the river. Information and maps are available the Montrose Public Lands Center at 2505 S Townsend Ave., Montrose, CO 970-240-5300.
