Horse Creek Access is Open!!!
Good Morning River Rats,
The Horse Creek Boat Launch is open to public use today! It is located about 12 miles upriver from Dotsero on the left side. While the site is open, there are few more bells and whistles we need to complete, such as signage, reseeding and a few other things.
Things to know:
Colorado River Ranch is protected by a conservation easement, but there is no public access other than the boat launch area. Don't poke around the Ranch, it is private property.
Stay off and away from the railroad tracks - seriously, problems with the railroad can shut down river access which we've tried so hard to provide.
Pack it in - Pack it out, and encourage others to do so. For the meantime we are not providing trash service. We'd rather spend Open Space funds on additional land acquisition and site development.
There is no potable water source at the launch.
The driveway under the railroad is one lane, so enter and exit slowly.
There is no fee to use Horse Creek. Camping and fires are prohibited. Leaving a vehicle overnight is allowed to facilitate multi-day trips.
Exit the ramp area quickly if other groups are present and waiting.
As always, call me if you have questions or observe any problems. Have fun, enjoy,...help us conserve and protect the Colorado River!
