Blue River Large Stringer

If you are rafting the Blue from Silverthorne, beware of a larger stringer creating a dam and hazardous conditions North of town about 20 minutes. We were warned to "stay left" and we did veer left at nearly every opportunity.

There is a tall pine that slopes toward the river and then points to the left. This is the area of the large downfall tree. If you see this sloping tree in the distance, stay left around a blind left hand bend. Once you see the stringer, it will be too late. Luckily we were able to portage one raft over and managed to Z-Drag the other raft from against the tree.

Be prepared, Be safe and Enjoy the run-off!

Just to clarify a bit..... The tree(strainer) is above the typical put in for the white water run locally known as the "Upper Blue". The tree comes into play if you put in at the Forrest service or near the damn in silverthorne. Said tree is located in a river right channel below the "TYL" ranch(last massive house on river right leaving silverthorne), but above the put in located near the LG Everest gravel pit
