Slickrock to Bedrock Minimum Flow for IK

With the great snowpack this year, we are thinking we can do Slickrock to Bedrock in our IKs mid-July. Can anyone recommend the minimum flow for a two-night ducky trip?

There will probably be less than 70 CFS in July. That will not be sufficient to float a rubber ducky, let alone an IK. Look at the 2019 Dolores thread on the Buzz and you will see when the very limited release is scheduled for. I believe it is this weekend.

There might be water in the San Miguel at that time so you could paddle from Uravan to Gateway or Gateway to the Colorado if there is water still flowing in the San Miguel. There are fewer rapids, and easier rapids, between Uravan and Gateway, there are a couple of big rapids below Gateway, but they can be portaged on the dirt road very easily.

BLM page says 200 cfs. Iíve read maybe on AW or someplace else, 150 cfs.

I did gypsum to bedrock at ~280cfs a couple weeks ago. It was plenty for an IK IMO but you might think differently. Based on that experience, the 150 cfs seems pretty doable, if you have solid low water reading skills on chocolate milk rivers...or a good sense of humor and adventure.

Now whether or not youíll have water in mid July is another matter entirely.

And be sure you have the private land put in info/location all sorted beforehand. Zero cell or data there to start sorting any confusion.

Good luck.
