Rio Chama pre-permit season run 14-17 April

I just had a couple of folks bail on a Rio Chama trip next weekend (14-17 April). It will be a combination of day run(s) and the wilderness overnight paddle in the middle, with a couple of chances to rendezvous.

I have 1-2 non-paddler drivers who are committed to reserve base car camp and set shuttle, but looking for some additional paddlers/rafters to join for safer boater numbers. Looks to be good flow, with releases at 1200 cfs.

Here's the basic plan:
14 April - rendezvous at Rio Chama Access campground (Chavez Canyon CG) at 1300 or anytime that afternoon/evening that schedules allow and establish a base car camp
those that arrive early enough can participate in part or full run of the Chama day-run section
15 April - early a.m. pack up overnight gear and boats into shuttle vehicle and ride up to El Vado Ranch put-in, arriving ~0930, launch by 1030
paddle ~ 15 miles that day and self-support within wilderness section that night
16 April - paddle the remaining 7 miles back to base car camp and take-out at ~ 1300
those that need to get home can depart and those that can remain stay another night
17 April - possible full run of Chama day section (Chavez Canyon - Big Eddy)

Let me know if you're interested.

Update = modified trip itinerary:
14 April - rendezvous at Big Eddy at ~ 1300, drop vehicles, pile into one rig and motor up to El Vado for late afternoon launch, paddle for 2 hours, and camp self-support
15 April - paddle ~ 12 miles and camp another night in wild and scenic section
16 April - paddle ~ 10 miles and take-out at Big Eddy

Send me a message if you want to join the trip

How did the trip turn out? Looks like the river was running around 1,500 cfs.
