lower blue this weekend (9/1-3)

I'm thinking of doing the lower blue one day this weekend (Labor Day weekend) for something different and since it appears to have more water than other options I typically hit up. It's a new run for me and I have 2 questions I haven't found an answer to yet.

Given the short length (spring creek takeout), it seems doable with a bike shuttle if need be. What I couldn't tell from reading about the take out is how amenable that is to one? My leaning would be to leave a vehicle at the takeout and bike to the putin (though maybe it's better to reverse that for gear safety)?

The second question was about the trough road takeout. How is the stretch of river between the two takeouts? Going down to Trough is a much longer run, is it worth it in a kayak? It'd be more scenery than whitewater I'm sure.

If others are planning on running it and wouldn't mind another joining I'm happy to meet up and provide one end of a shuttle.

I may wander over by the Gore whitewater park as well since it's relatively nearby and see what it's like at these flows.

Thanks
John

Hey John, there will be plenty of folks on the blue this weekend to shuttle.

The bike shuttle isn’t bad, it’s a steep climb out of spring creek to the highway but short lived, then a gradual climb all the way to the resivoir on Highway 9.

The section below spring creek is class 2, it’s gorgeous, but it’s private property all the way to the take out.

No sopping or touching land, they watch for it, and will enforce it.

We’ve done it to trough road in rafts a few times, pretty, good fishing, but hard to pee, or take a break.

Blue

There is still some public land between Spring creek and the trough road, make sure to look at a map as they don't advertise it. I would think hitchin a ride would easy this weekend.

Sounds good. I was guessing that was what the lower part was like Bob. I know it's a pretty drive from highway 9. We may bring a bike just in case and see what happens. Biking the shuttle would at least make me get some exercise! - thanks!
