Futa Chile boating Feb - March 09

We are looking to do some kayaking on the Futa and other rivers in the Futa area in Feb or March of 09. Looking for a good company to go with. We've been talking with Expediciones Chile and have looked at RXRivers.com and Bio Bio Expediciones also. Does anyone have any first hand experience with any of these (or other) companies? One of us is a solid class IV boater (comfortable on some class V) and one of us is only a solid class III boater (has done some easier class IV). Any feedback/suggestions? Any thoughts on who might have the best selection of boats? Would Feb or March be better? Any info would be super helpful. Thanks.

Go with RxRivers. Aren and Sarah are super cool and will do anything to make your trip on the FUTA a succes! Their base camp is great and have everything you need. Dry platforms for sleeping and hot tub and shower for easing your sore muscles.Solid Class IV skills are essential on the Futa. Your friend could maybe run the last rapid on the Futa below Mas o Menos, but the Espolon up by the town of Futaluefu would be better to start. Aren has great success getting Class III boaters up to speed on the Futa. I have guided class III people down the Terminator section but with great hesitation. February is hot and dry so great for getting in the river and seeing the incredible scenery, much better than March whcih can be rainy and starting to get cold. Ilived down there for 4 months a few winters ago and just can't say enough good things about Aren and Sarah, they are world class in every way and will become your friends for life. Rx has more than 20 boats of all kinds from little playboats, modern riverrunners to big water expedtion kayaks. There is a lot to do, so give yourself some time to get adjusted to the volume on the Futa. It's the best. Cheers, and wish I was going down again this winter.

We went with Bio Bio last February and I highly recommend them. They have a beautiful camp, wood heated hot tub overlooking the Futa, African safari-style tents on platforms also overlooking the river, flushing toilets and hot showers. They are also great people - lots of fun and they never met a stranger.
