Any Beginners up for Deckers/Chutes run Sunday Morning?

I am looking for anyone who would like to take a run on the Deckers/Chutes run on Sunday morning (8th). I have noticed that it is one of the few places close to Denver that is still running good. I have never actually done this run, but I am told it is a good class II+/III- at the levels it has been running. So far there is two of us going right now -and we would like to get several more people to join. I would like to put in around 10am, but I am flexible if need be. Give me a call at 303-870-6713 if you are interested. Leave a message and I will be in touch!

Later,
Adam

beware, I've heard they are ticketing people who are running the chutes. $750 fine. some bonehead Jeffco sheriff deputy is apparantly being an epic prick to kayakers in this section. that's what I know, others may know if this situation has changed.

I could run it on Sat. as long as we were done by about 1:00 o'clock. Let me know if this will work for you.

To the best of my knowledge, the access 'team' of the CWWA checked this out, and had a conversation with the sherrif deputy referred to above, and sounds like everything was straightened out. Basically, the chutes are indeed closed of to all use, except for boating...an exception allowed for by state law, I believe.

I ran this for the first time a couple weeks ago when it was at about 330. Looks like it just bumped up to 500, so it could be quite a bit more exciting. We ran probably ~6-7 mile stretch. Most of the stuff 'above' the chutes was quite mellow. The chutes were fun, and then there was some decent sections afterwards. At 330 the most difficult stuff was maybe III-, probably more like II+, with much of it less than II. A lot of pretty flat sections. But, I'd be curious to see what 500 is like. Unfortunately, I'm out for the weekend...

Let us know...

Hey,
I just ran across this post, I'd be interested in joining you tomorrow, I haven't done this section either. I'll try to give you a call in the morning.
