If you want someone to build the highest quality whitewater features available in your community you should talk with Mike Harvey (he's a buzzard and responsible for the awesome features at both BV and Salida)...

Perhaps where Harvey is the lead on a project it will be well managed/ designed, but I would disagree otherwise 100% in regards to rep. BV & Salida are the ONLY places where I have seen their work turn out as quality work.

I know Harvey is a good guy & have ZERO desire to hurt his business prospects, but the morons that did Lawson deserve to NEVER touch a river again. Lawson aside, I have never seen one of their projects that is worth a crap at other than the highest of flows. I used to go hit the Lawson hole after work & try to find someone who was willing to run Dumont with me, now I drive by EVERY DAY & see no-one. If THAT is the kind of community development that you're looking for in your town, give them a call.

I hear their "commitment to making it right" then I find out that it's US that has to pay for their screwup. The more I hear about rep or have to deal with their mistakes, the more I hope that no municipality ever gives them a chance to screw up another river.

But hey, it's not like I've got much of an opinion about that though...

I believe Kayakers LOVE Brennan's wave in Missoula. Actually, there is an effort to do a 2nd wave downstream. I bet the guys at Strongwater (shop in Missoula) could point you in the right direction.

I agree with the previous comments about REP. I have never been impressed with there designs other than BV and Salida and as it turns out they muffed the upper hole at BV this year. Sorry, to many mistakes for a few good features, the ratio is questionable at best. So far it seems that Riverrestoration.org have put together some good projects, but make sure you get eddy service at high flows.

unsolicited stoke for Jason Carey at RiverRestoration in Glenwood Springs. He did the Glenwood Springs wave and a few others. Here's his website. RiverRestoration.org

river restoration

didn't they make the "ridgewave" in ridgeway? who ever made it has a strike against them with that one.

don't know if jason designed that wave. i'd be cautious though of blindly associating, what you call, a bad project with someone trying to make a living. this is is a common thread brought up on the buzz, but calling out an engineer, shop staff, whatever, with shotty work, as you've indirectly done, is bullshit. i don't think this was malicious, but gotta be careful.
