Willow Creek Report

Ran Willow Creek near steamboat this Sunday for the first time. It was great, nonstop class four. Once you get into the class four section there are no eddies until you hit the lower Elk. I cannot imagine swimming this creek. Your gear would be gone. We had to scout almost the entire run and I am very glad that we did. There are 4 or 5 river wide logs in very fast water with very tiny eddies above them. The most significant rapid on the run has a strainer right in the middle of it and is very hard to stop above. We portaged this one cuz of the wood. If you don't mind post-holing through snow to scout rapids, and grabbing willow brushes to get out of the river, it is a pretty fun little creek.

It would be nice to know how many portages there are......I think the nature of the creek has been pretty well established.

In theory, there aren't any. Last THurs. the water was gushing bank-to-bank and you could hit the far left line at Woopti.

Lower, when the guy above ran it this weekend after it got cold, it may have exposed wood in the river left channel. But you should still be able to slip through.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! You should really start hanging out with CasperMike. He too likes to mention moms when being called out, and has a head the size of Youranus. Claytonious was just giving a trip report. Why are you being such a dick about it?
