Why Applesauce?

I can see why every rapid in Gore is named what it is except for Applesauce. From the bottom we have Kirschbaum's-a tribute to Walter Kirschbaum who got the first D. Toiletbowel- if you get caught in the hole you will know. Tunnel Falls- a prominent falls adjacent to a railroad tunnel. Pyrite- Lots of pyrite on the shore. Scissors-all about the current, like a pair of scissors. Gore Rapid- the signature drop of Gore Canyon. And then, Applesauce. Why? Because it's ''easy'' like applesuce, or, because if you screw it up, you will get splattered like applesauce? Discuss.

it will turn you into applesauce if run wrong. that would be my guess.

if you don't get right enough, you boof into the rock pocket than you pour over the rock pocket into another hole. ouch.

I also hear it called Fisherman's Nightmare and have always liked that name better.

Below Applesauce I turned around and looked at it to watch someone else's line and I remarked, "OH!!! Now I know why they call it Applesauce!!!" I always wondered why it had that name and, on that day, it was obvious:

The water was light tan and the way it aerated when it went over the bottom of that drop, it looked just like a big pile of applesauce. I mean, that day it looked EXACTLY like a giant pile of applesauce to me.
