Which fest to go to?

My wife and I are new to Kayaking and we were looking at going to either CKS Paddle Fest CKS PaddleFest 09′ or CW Training Camp http://www.coloradowhitewater.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=29636 to take some classes. We went on a guided trip awhile back but I didn’t fit in any of the boats so we used sit on tops, we bought our own kayaks and we’ve been out on the lake a few times and we’re thinking we need some instruction. I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on either event or if there is a better place to learn for a couple of noobs. All of the local classes ended in April.

Why not do both?

CW

CW Training Camp. It will give you two fulls days of instruction and a peer network to paddle with after the weekend.

You and my wife would dance well together. Thank you for the input.

Well it looks like we are going to do both after all. We signed up for training camp to do skills drills Sat and basic safety class Sun then we’re going to Paddlefest to check out the free clinics, group paddle and roll tune up. I’m thinking after these two weekends we should be good to go at least for now, what do you all think? We’ll keep hitting the lake after work in the mean time.

We have a lot of class I/II river sections close to us to practice on after this but we want to eventually get up to doing West Water and the like next year and someday The Grand Canyon.
