What does a gauge flatline mean?

Anyone ever seen a gauge flat line like this? Could this mean ice or another type of malfunction. We are off some cold day with snow, but I would think if the snow melt stopped the river would drop lower and and if the snow was melting at all we would see the diurnal pulsing. There aren't any dams on the Gallatin above this gauge, so it's not a flat lined release.

I would think snow and cold. The smith froze up and we thought it was a gauge malfunction but the rangers said it froze all the run off solid and decreased flow substantially. It's been down right cold lately. We're headed to lochsa may 4-6 Glenn. We have room if you want in.

Certainly tempting. I have other plans at the moment but if they fall through I would definitely consider the Lochsa.

The gauge height is moving a little bit, I'm still thinking cold. I wish it would warm up, I want to hit the gally before I go back to work. What the min cfs for small raft (spider)?

Minimum to get down the run is probably 400cfs in a 8-10ft raft 12ft would probably be pushing it. 1000cfs is my personal minimum to run it in a raft.

Saw that this morning too Glenn. I was driving back from YNP yesterday and it was downright frigid coming through Big Sky. Ice is what I thought too, but it is strange!

It's so cold I still have ice in my cooler from the smith on 4/10. 100+ river miles and about as many beers later.
