Westwater ice?

Now that high pressure is settling in, has anyone been down/flown over/heard about ice on Westwater lately? Any information would be appreciated as we are looking to float somewhere (Westwater, Cataract, San Juan, ?) this Friday through Tuesday (1/16-1/20). Thanks in advance, Dave.

Act fast. The high pressure ridge is breaking down and moving east on Monday. Looks like a series of low cells starting midweek and some good snow potential by the end of the week.

There were some threads about this topic last year (check the "Similar Threads " below. I seem to remember that someone said a rule of thumb is that if there's ice in Debeque Canyon, there's ice in Westy. Check the UtahRafters group by pasting this into your browser and fixing the dot-com part of the address (I don't want to post their address to help keep them from getting hit by spambots).

have a good trip wherever you float,

I live in Moab and it's been warm (up to 41 today) here, but in the teens at night. I'd be surprised if you could get down Cataract or Westwater right now. There's a huge ice dam on the Daily and it probably gets more sun than either of the other runs. I'd call the NPS or the Moab BLM office before you bother with driving.
