Union Lag Time (Nerdy Nerdy Nerdy)

So, as a nerdy engineer type , I was curious how long it took a release at Chatfield to increase flow at the Union Chutes. Looking at the Chatfield release between August 23rd and 25, which ranged from about 200 to 250 cfs, it looks like it takes about 4.5 hours for flows to come up at Union as a result of a release at Chatfield, and about 4 hours for flows to come down at Union after Chatfield stops releasing.

Currently, the below Chatfield gage reads about 10.8 cfs, which is too bad 'cuz after a six pack, I think I could pee more than that.

For reference, the Chatfield gage can be viewed at:

Sounds like you've found the answer empirically. I'd say about 4 hours lag time from your analysis, though that seems slow to me. I'd expect that the lag time will also depend on the flow, shorter time for higher volume. The data from the gages may have been biased by a big release from the Englewood Wastewater Treatment plant, however....
