Tuolumne Drowning Tuesday
Some sad news regarding a Sausalito woman appeared in Yahoo this morning, though with little detail. Not sure of current flows, but with a fairly dry winter and being the last day of July, it doesn't seem it would have been high. Pins can happen at any flow of course. A brief, though odd quote from the article-
"Mariati Tani, 41, was on the river with her family at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when their raft met an unexpected class-five rapid that lodged them in a rock, said the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office."
This was supposedly a family trip, horrific for this poor lady's kids. That means it must have been the main "T", not Cherry Creek. And the only class V at normal flows would be Clavey Falls. How it could be "unexpected" I'm not too clear on. There are some entrapment opportunities in Clavey for sure.
