The 2013 Golden Games

Hey fellow buzzards,
Spring has sprung and it's time to get ready for the boating season. How about starting the season off right with a great event, The Golden Games. The dates for this year are May 17-19, 2013 and we have competitions in kayaking, SUP and fly fishing. We have a ton of great sponsors like Jackson Kayak, GoPro, Hala Gear, Glide SUP, Kayak Session Magazine, WRSI, Titan Rod Vault, Ten Mile Creek Kayaks, TYJ Global(helicopter tours), Klip-N-Go Kayak Straps, Canoe and Kayak, Charlie's Fly Box, and many more! So, go ahead and get registered for your chance to win some of these great prizes. Or, if competing isn't your thing, we also have lots of clinics, a "pub crawl", and other activities for anybody. We'll have professional kayakers and SUP-ers for our "Paddle with the Pros" event, demo a SUP board from one of our vendor booths, come test your balance on our slack lines or come out to watch some of the best paddlers in the world compete in Golden, CO. In addition, we could also use some great volunteers and safety boaters for the events. If you would like to volunteer please email me at [email protected] and I hope to see you at The 3rd Annual Golden Games May 17-19, 2013!

We'll only break into different divisions if we have a minimum of 5 paddlers to create the category. So, I think it'll just be a men's class and women's class. Lat year only 2 boats were over 8'6" but they did have the best times. Hobie won in a "Green Boat" but also come within a few seconds in a "Mamba" and the other long boat was a Pyranha Fusion. However neither were substantially better; 1st-6th was separated by about 35 seconds. Regardless, it's a great course and a ton of fun!

You may want to post up a general thread rather than one under the Golden Games.

check in for screaming 1/4 mile race

Please check in at the Golden Games booth at the Clear Creek whitewater park until 3:30 or go to the race start at mile marker 269 in the canyon. We will be set up there by 4:00. Not to worry if you get there later we will put you in the race as long as we have safety and daylight. If you have not registered online we will take your registration at the put in but you will need cash or check as we can not process credit cards in the canyon. If you can pre register at www.thegoldengames.com and click on eventbrite it would help us a bunch. Please bring your ACA# if you have one. If you have registered please check in with us as everyone needs to sign a waiver. Great prizes will be awarded after the race back at the WW Park. Come join the fun!!!

So stoked to have water this year....especially after last season. We're probably going to see 450 for the 1/4 Mile Race and over 500 for the rest of the weekend which is AWESOME! So, don't foget to register and get in on the action by going to our website The Golden Games and clicking the "Eventbrite" link on our home page. I look forward to seeing you at The 3rd Annual Golden Games!

The 2013 Golden Games was a HUGE SUCCESS!

The 3rd Annual Golden Games was a HUGE SUCCESS! We had over 100 competitors, and some incredible prizes. The top 10 finishers in all our competitions received 1 ticket into a drawing for a Helicopter Tour from TYJ Global and Tesa D. who competed in the flatwater SUP Race won it! In addition, everyone who competed in this year's events receive 1 ticket per event into a drawing for a product of choice from Jackson Kayak. If you competed you can also buy additional tickets on The Golden Games website via our Eventbrite link and purchase additional $10 tickets to win the Jackson Kayak boat or SUP of choice. Lastly, we still have some event t-shirts left and they're available on our website: The Golden Games. You just need to click on the Eventbrite link on our home page and then click "The 2013 Event T-shirt" link and we can line up a time and place to meet or if you need it shipped and want to pay for shipping we can also do that.
