Thanks for the emergency assistance at Deckers Sunday...and lost paddle.
Thank you so much to everybody that helped out at Deckers on Sunday!
To make a long story very short...
A person from our group had a seizure while boating about a half mile below the chutes. After having been upside down for over a minute, we were able to get the person to shore and apply CPR. It was a horrific minute or so but the paddler's color came back and she began to breathe again on her own.
Over the next half hour, several people stopped and offered support. For precautionary reasons, we requested an ambulance be called, and a gentleman went out of his way to drive miles to get a phone signal and some help on the way.
The victim ended up staying overnight at the hospital in Littleton and was released Monday, while feeling 100%.
I just wanted to say thanks again to everybody out there on Sunday. It's amazing how willing people are to drop everything, sometimes putting their own lives in danger to help a complete stranger.
That being said, a green Werner Sherpa paddle was lost during the rescue. The phone number on the paddle is 563-505-3074 but the phone number has changed to 563-676-5570. If you come across it, can you please call me?
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
