Texas and colorado

I'm from Tx but I kayak the Ocoee all summer in my rock star. I just wants to put it out there to the few number of tx paddlers that I am trying to get connections to go paddle

Also where are the closets places to Austin tx that have a actually nice wave. Somewhere where I can throw loops and stuff?

Longhorn Dam in Austin is a good wave if they are releasing out of the center gates.

Dierks in Arkansas is another option. Dallas also has a play park. Im not sure if it has some issues or not though.

Hi Hank. First thing you should know is there is only 1 park and play hole capable of giving up loops in the state of Texas and it has not run at an appropriate level in 3 years.
cmowry (hey brother) is correct, Longhorn wave is the closet to Austin but they've not had the right gate config for nearly 2 years now so it's not been an option.
Your best bet is Rio Vista in San Marcos, though summer is pretty much off season because the river becomes congested with tubers except at night or early morning.
The Dallas WW park is officially open for business but it takes rain to get it going.
Great runs when we get lots of rain (we're currently in drought), planning a trip to Arkansas in Sept., etc., etc.
It's Summer, why aren't you on the Ocoee? Welcome to Texas. PM me your phone # and I'd be happy to show you around.

I've got 2 secret spots on the Lampasas near Ft. Hood. Easily loopable but you have to wait till after rain.

Well that is top secret. Is it between 1690 and FM 580? That's the only run on the Lampasas I know of.

Regardless, my point is there is very little reliable play.

Rio Vista

I've hit Rio Vista a couple Saturday mornings this summer. Always a few boaters enjoying the only moving water around. The swimmers/tubers are not too bad until around 11:00 or 11:30.
