Taos this weekend

Hey kids -

A couple of us are going to get into Taos late Saturday night and run the Lower Box on Sunday.
I haven't been there in a couple years.
Is there any new info you have that I need?
Like, did any wood lodge in Powerline late last season?
Is this too early - like will there be ice in there this weekend?
Did the road to the put-in wash out?
Are there marauding bands of desert raiders in those parts these days?

Does anybody want to join? I kinda know the run, or at least remember bits and fragments and will study the guidebook, but if there was somebody who wanted to join who happened to know the run well, that would be cool.

Thanks for any help.

-Mike

I am in, maybe

I am pretty familiar with the box. I have run it quite a few times, but not in a couple of years.

I might be into driving down Sat and running it on Sunday. The flow looks great. I am not sure about new wood or ice though.

Lets talk.

atom is THE man for new mexico beta and he'll probably know (and report sooner or later) about the wood situation, but I would bet dollars to donuts that there is zero ice and that its 100% ready to go.

im gonna be down in those parts next week, 3rd thru the 6th, lookin forward to it!

Ran the box last Saturday and everything was clean. As of then, no new wood but it has been coming up all week, so as always, be looking for new wood as the flows get higher.

It was about 1300 cfs a few weeks ago when we had low snowmelt and waterfalls were coming off the U. Box rim.

Lower Box is good to go. No ice or wood. It's coming up fast so just be heads up wood floating downstream. Upper Box is also in at a good flow. Have a blast. Atom...
