Surfing Help

Im starting to do a little bit of play boating and I was wondering if you had any tips for a beginner or anything that helped you when you started. I will mainly be surfing in a hole. The biggest thing is I window shade a lot(I mean a lot, about everytime Im in).
Anything that might help would be appreciated
or you can just tell me to suck it up
Thanks
Luke

ya how is the lower hole at 4k? it looks pretty sticky.
I'm working tomorrow and going down to steamboat this weekend. but after that I'm out of school so i can get more practice. ill definitely hit you up on your offer. I actually can hit my roll on all the drops except for the burrito, that whirl pool that Has a special affinity to my boat, makes it hard for me to get up.

the burrito eddylines are wicked at 4k and the wave isnt as big starts to flush.
the first wave becomes alot easier to catch as well as bigger.

the 3rd feature starts to come in but needs a solid 4500 to make a good enough wave to ride.

A few good rules of thumb to keep in mind:
Keep you hips loose.
Lift knees to steer.
Look where you want to go.

ditto what dan said--also, you have to be aggressive and deliberate

the other best thing I found that helped me the most is to keep your upstream edge UP in a side surf--this allows the water to pass harmlessly under your boat--the instant you lower your upstream edge, BAM, you get window shaded

Just remember that when you first start out, you will be spending A LOT of time upside down. Windowshading is a direct result of dropping upstream edge. Keepin' at it the best way to learn, it also helps to stay loose and just ride the flow.
