SUPing the Grand?
Looking for info on whether or not it is allowed to SUP the Grand. What are the regs etc. Thanks for any info!

My wife just SUPed (swam) most of it. She skipped House, Horn, Granite, Crystal, and a few others, but otherwise... As long as you have a permit it should be fine. I'd suggest a wetsuit and a helmet.

As others have stated, it is definitely allowed. Seth Warren did it a couple years back on a trip my dad was on. He had a write up in SUP Magazine. I have a hard copy somewhere, I could not find an online version, but I bet it exists. Wet suit, helmut, extra paddle would be smart, but I don't think they are required.

I bet they require a spare just like they do for kayaks, one spare for every 4 (or less) kayaks/canoe/SUP.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? Bringing rolled inflatable sup with break down paddle. Mainly for flat water fun, not as a main 'vessel'. Not going to advertise to rangers i have one, but not gonna (don't wanna) hide it either. Bring a shitty custy paddle to put-in just in case?

When we went a month ago, they didn't ask about spare paddles for the SUP, 2 duckies, and 1 kayak. I would suggest bringing one all the same, as it would suck to loose a paddle and then not be able to play later. I'd also suggest putting some pipe insulation foam on your paddle just so its more buoyant. Lastly, I think a leash for the SUP is a good thing on this river. Ordinarily we don't use a leash, but it was nice to have in that big of water. Lastly, make sure you run Hermit on the SUP. Its great.
