SSV Hazard

Ran SSV today. There is a road sign pipe in the landing of the slot drop below triple drop and before the narrows. You can't see it until you are really close and committed to the drop. It's parallel to the flow and pointed downstream but still sketch. Got dark before we could take it out.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you have photos? I think I know the area you are describing, but I am not sure.

Ian, I believe the drop you are talking about is called chicken wing.
There is a pull out right there. Sorry, I couldn't see it from where I was standing but I saw you look back at something after you went through.
If I have time ill pull it this weekend ( I do work though). Ill post here of it gets pulled.

Looked like you guys had a blast.

Matt, is there still a facebook page for that gauge? This would be a good place to share it if there is, and recruit contributors.

Yeah SSV was awesome yesterday. Felt soooo good to be back on it. Action packed!

Lief, the drop in question is the only narrow slot drop between boulders on the run. Small slot on the left with a 4 ft boof that immediately goes right after you land.

We scouted all the major drops for wood, and did some road scouting on the way up. Should have scouted that slot drop too for wood. Won't make that mistake again.

It could still be in today... depends on how quick the gauge drops. I'm ready to roll at mid day.

I'm not exactly sure how to better describe the drop. But after some boogie water past triple drop, there's a drop where you have to go through a little slot right up against the left bank. The drop is maybe 2-4 feet into a small hole and requires that you make an almost immediate 90 degree right turn after the slot to avoid the mank pile on the left after it.

I squeezed right of the post, lifting my left arm high to avoid it. Sounds like Ian sort of busted straight through it. It worked out fine for us, but it sure looks like it's in a perfect position to impale someone or at least rip apart a drytop.

Thats the drop Ken. Image a sign post right were the boater is... Its parallel to the current and angled away from the drop at about a 30 degree angle pointing up and away. Definitely got the blood pumping.
