Sky at > 70K

The Skykomish peaked at what looks like 70,000cfs the other day. (USGS Real-Time Water Data for USGS 12134500 SKYKOMISH RIVER NEAR GOLD BAR, WA) That's about double the previous max recorded flow. Does anyone have any, or know anyone who has any, photos? Boulder Drop probably looked more like the Big Drops. is offline   Reply With Quote

It hit 112,000 a couple of years ago in late November, it was a sight to behold, sunset falls was the biggest hydraulic I have ever seen with a mile wide eddy on the river left side with logs a plenty. We paddled the main sky at about 50k and there were strainers 1/4 mile long on the bars, debris from houses and even some nice new river channels. My friend has a house that backs up to a flood channel that had at least 10k in it. Needless to say it was f-ing crazy. I will try to dig up some pics from that flood, it was crazy. I know on the usgs website the max was 34400, but it really did hit over 100k, it was epic. I will try to find those pics and even a little vid tonight.

The Skykomish has been above 40k several times in the last couple years and peaked around ~120k back in November 2006. The Snoqualmie peaked at a record flow though yesterday, I think around 35k.

Here's some vid from Snoqualmie Falls yesterday:
