Going to try to get over to shoshone this Tuesday. Anyone know if there is ice? Or is it good to go?

Maybe but I have been there at (-) whatever, skiing the shuttle with ice forming on my lifejacket and paddle and paddled through. obviously I am wrong but It is also supposed to get up to 50 degrees here in the next few days. even if you have to portage the pool above maneater 98% of the run will be free of ice.

saw a lot of ice when I drove over to Sunlight yesterday.... I wouldn't guarantee no ice portages without a current visual.

I ran it tuesday solo for my birthday, I posted a video on the new years sho run thread. I tried breaking through the ice in the pool above man eater and it wasn't happening, I was hoping I would be able to ramp up onto the thicker ice and scoot to the other side but trying to get speed enough through the 20' ice channel wasn't happening and I was worried I was going to get stuck in the slushy channel or flip over and have to swim under the ice cause I probably wouldn't have been able to roll back over. So Yes Shoshone does freeze over and yes, as of tuesday it was frozen and portaged. The rest was pretty clear albeit shallow and starting to choke up in places (the middle slot on tombstone looked just about too tight so I did the ferry between new rock and wrapper).
Here's the video from tuesday:

I agree that it is pretty rare for it to freeze up completely but it's always worth a scout...
