Selway River bike / paddle / run...looking for partners.

It may not happen this year (tho the water looks good right now) but i would like to do a round trip human powered shuttle on the Selway at some point in my life. We've done this type of self shuttle (albeit with much smaller scenarios) many times in the past and really dig it. I'd like to get into something a little bigger.

Here's what i'm thinking:

83 mile mountain bike
46 mile downriver paddle
30 mile trail run / hike

Start in Elk City, ID (3939ft) and mountain bike 83 miles on the Magruder Corridor Road to the Selway River at Paradise (3050ft). Ditch bikes and get into a boat and paddle 46 miles to the Meadow Creek take-out (1720ft). Drop boats and hump 30 miles along the Idaho Centennial Trail back to Elk City.

Here is a good map of the ride...

Sure it's a long way and the shuttle would be a pain...i think it sounds kinda fun.

If you somehow think any of this sounds interesting or might know someone who does let me know. I'm looking for partners.

Sounds great. Just wondering how you get your bikes back from paradise and your boats back from meadow creek?

as for the driving I'm thinking you would:

  1. drive in the MT side and drop boats at paradise
  2. drive to Elk City (maybe drop a cache 1/2 way) and drop vehicle
  3. bike to paradise, lock up bikes and get in boats
  4. take out at Meadow Creek, stash boats and hike to truck
  5. drive truck to retrieve boats, then drive to retrieve bikes
  6. drive out the MT side
One could stash bikes at elk city and do the hike 1st but I'd prefer to do it bike / paddle / hike. Gear could be cached 1/2 way thru the bike on the drive in to make that section a lite-weight overnight. The camping gear left at the boats would have to suffice for camping before putting on the river, a night on the river and a night on the I.C. Trail.

6 days would be very do-able. 3 days would be a sprint.
