Salida Surf Report 10/20/05

In an almost unprecedented (for October) jump on the hydrograph the Salida holes are good to go today. I have no idea how long it will last but ends are being thrown as I write this in both holes. I paddled earlier today and threw about 3000 ends without hitting. Loops and the like are a little tough, not quite high enough and it is cold but easily the best paddling we have had in October since we built the park. Come on down and share the love...

Thats good news. The guages on the buzz don't seem to be working for several of the ark gauges. The gauges show a 200cfs bump for the ark at wellsvill, and almost 100 cfs bump for granite. What are your thoughts on how much of that needs to stay to get some decent surf saturday?

Its awesome to see late season water on the Ark. We've had some great after work river runs this week at Pine Creek and even some park n hucks at Lake Creek. The weekend chill day on the Royal Gorge keeps me smilin too. 7 months this year...April-Oct, on the Ark. Not too many places in Colorado like that. Don't put your gear up yet!

It is down a little this morning. My personal gauge rock is just barley covered and yesterday it was making a hydraulic. The Wellesville guage says 568 this am and it was around 600 yesterday. I think the play will still be good if it stays over 500 in Wellesville. If it drops then I would say how far are you driving and how bad do you want it? Remember the Wellesville gauge is below the South Ark and I don't know how much is coming in from there. At any rate it is still good right now. But I have no idea how long it will last.
