Salida Area paddling??

Just wondering how the paddling is up there in the Salida Area. Yeah I realize the water is low, but our crew is just looking for something cool to hang out and do. How is Browns at 300? What about the Numbers? Also we were thinking of hitting the BV and Salida playparks. How are they and which one would be better at the current level. Thanks.

we ran browns canyon last weekend at 350 and it was runnable. Checkout the parkdale section it might be a little bit better for you though.

You can run Parkdale and it is mostly fine. It is difficult to find a path through Spikebuck however due to rocks. The top of 5 points will also be very low.

the top hole in salida is still deep enough to throw. the bottom hole is only good for flat spins. i would run the gorge-fun and creeky and this level. the only worry is second drop in sunshine-sticky at this level. boof it on right side into eddy.

enjoy

funny gaper

ok - so i'm a total dork, as your post reminds me of my gorge run 2 weeks ago - sunshine drop, my partner goes thru, get's pushed into the eddy, i am following (obviously too close), as i go thru the drop, and my partner has still not left the eddy - so here we are, 2 dorks in a small eddy, only feet from the biggest hole/hydraulic on the run - i finally get my 1970's boat pointed downstream, and attempt to take off, when i can't get enough momentum to escape the re-circ, and get sucked into the hole, for a 30 second washing machine impression. at least my buddy gets a good view while i'm getting worked.

made it thru the rest at least.

so in summary - watch that hole if you're a gaper like me!
