Ruby Horsethief?'s

I've got a group doing Ruby next weekend. (I know its going to be crazy busy) I was wondering where we could camp nearby the night before launch, preferable on the river where we could rig. I don't mind starting a couple miles upstream of Loma if that means we can rig Friday. I understand you can't camp at the Loma put in, correct?

Also any info/ suggestions on campsites is appreciated although I think we will probably be at the mercy of what is available.

Also how bad are the bugs this year? Its been drying out for a few weeks but just want to be prepared.

Is there a fire ban currently?

Thanks in advance for all you helpful buzzards!

In the past, we have camped at the state park at Fruita. There is a small boatramp on the river. You will probably want to make reservations. I can't remember how many miles it is to Loma.

We usually stay at Rimrock and launch from there. We also have them do our shuttle. It's about 4 miles above Loma put in.

I heard that if you use Rimrock shuttle you can camp and launch from their site!
Travis at Rimrock might be able to say.

$90 from Loma "if" you launch before noon.
$100 from Loma after that.
$90 if you launch anytime from RimRocks property.
Travis and those guys are awesome AND not having to run shuttle on a trip is SO NICE!

They'll rent you a groover, that you don't have to dump, just drop and run.
