Royal Gorge?

Has anyone confirmed that Royal Gorge may be ice free? Looks like it'll be in the 60's this weekend and I'm ready to get out there.

My gut says it's not quite ready yet, but it's gotta be geting close. . . I'll post back if I get any good info from the Train people, or first trip of the season I take.

I'll post about the river soon as I know anything more accurate than knowing that there's a fair amount of ice at Parkdale still. I'll probably try to go down the Gorge in the next week or so. As far as the dirt biking at TC, I'd wait a few sunny days- it was still pretty sloppy on the dirt roads outside of town this afternoon.

Highs in the 50s today and 62 and sunny tomorrow? The ice isn't going to clear out? Is the problem lack of increased flow on the Ark? Where are all the Royal Gorge experts out there?

I drove to canon city and back last Saturday and parkdale was clear including sharks tooth. Obviously can only see the entrance of the gorge from the road but it didn't look good. Possibly colder temps since then

Mostly. They sent down too much water last winter, and regretted it during the summer. The powers that be did a lot of backtracking during the summer realizing their mistake. The Gorge doesn't get much sun,at all, during these months so it takes a bit to melt. It won't be long!

Agree with Justin. It won't be long. I plan on getting down there in the next week or so. Very little sun down there, and the water hasn't been brought up this year for winter flows the way it has in the past....
