Road to Bennett Peak campground-North Platte

Has anyone been into Bennett Peak or know the current road conditions? I don't remember the road being bad, but heard it was really muddy last weekend. Thanks for the info!

any of the guide shops in saratoga will know. there's usually only one spot that blocks traffic into bennett peak. i can't imagine it still being snowed in, but it might be muddy. it can goopy with some rain, but if you have 4wd (which you shouldn't need), then you'll be fine.

Good idea. I will look up the guides in Saratoga, hadn't thought of that. Thanks

FYI I called a guide place in Saratoga they said Bennett Peak is still closed for a couple of weeks, usually opens early June. Until then it's a quick run to 6-mile or big push to Treasure Island I guess.

BS. they saw your area code. i've been in there plenty of times this time of year, and it's always open, and there are usually campers at the CG.

go to Treasure Island

The time you save on the shuttle will make up for the extra time you spend driving the shuttle. Which would you rather do?

Though it's flat, it seems that the river really scoots along those last few miles.

Bennett Peak was still closed last weekend when I was up there. Rumor is that there is a tree down blocking access somewhere about the middle. Some Laramie boys were talking about going in there this weekend to cut out the trees.

Bennet peak is definitely open, but has a chance to be a bit to moderatly sloppy. No trees across the road as JMRider19 would have you believe. The takeout that is blocked by lumber is the Prospector takeout, which should only be attempted with a decent 4WD. We're thinking about trying to open it up tomorrow because 6 mile is for the birds.
