RIVERING movie released! Worth a watch...

Long time lurker, first time poster - with good reason. I don't live in the US anymore but I do miss it dearly.

If you are into whitewater in any way(but kayaking...yes), or even if you just want to share what it means to you with family and friends, this is a great watch for an evening in(1:39 long, so grab a sudsy beverage!):

https://vimeo.com/170380151

I've helped film this movie, and the director/instagator Bill Parks has worked long and hard on a completely volunteer basis with donated funds to get it to completion. NO MARKETING expressed or implied - simply good wholesome fun on the water with an emphasis on who is there doing it, and WHY, as much as rivering itself.

Mostly filmed in New Zealand, the scenery is pretty good too...

Cool! Will watch it this evening.
Also: Me and a few friends use the term "rivering" and had not heard anyone else use it. I love the term and what it implies and I'm glad to hear it's getting wider use. Your movie will help with that!

Indeed, enjoy.

Having rafted for years and now kayaked some, I had never heard a "blanket" term for it all until I moved to NZ and met Bill Parks(director) and got involved with filming etc.

I like it, too.

Hey all,

This film is a GEM!!! I just paused it to come on here and say that! It's pure fun and grace and beauty and history....and a little hairball stuff (just to show you they can). Yeehaw!

Couldn't agree more Wade, this is one that should be shared with a large group. The best parts are the outstanding comments of the guest speakers as to why we do this. There is another DVD entitled "Call of the River" produced by Kent Ford, that is the best history guide of this sport up to our present day. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

You bet, Gunnerman....but it was <hilslamer> who posted it....all I did was rave about it. And I have not seen Call of the River, need to though!

Wow! Definitely the best hour and a bit I have spent in front of the computer screen. How come we have never heard of the Citroen Extreme race before? Would a quadruple ramp start even be allowed here in the States?

My hats off to everyone who contributed in the making of this, its as good as a paddling video gets.

Thank you for the kind words. It was a labor of love over three years with a lot of talented friends.

As for the Citroen Race: You've probably not heard of it because it is a local event, put on by paddlers just down the road in Wanaka. Despite the name, the car manufacturer has nothing to do with it. I don't know the whole story, but I think a paddler back in the day had an old Citroen, and that is how the rapid got its name, though I just found out the Maori called it Waitiri.

Thanks for sharing, that was excellent! Kind of like a Warren Miller film about boating.
