Rio Chama Permit Attempts

Well i'ts Permit Application Season in the West again. I'm putting in for several Rio Chama permit apps. to run May/June and I'm looking for Yakers, Rafters or IK'ers (I'm an IK'er myself) to do a self supported 2-3 day trip down the Rio Chama and I would like to increase my chances of getting a Willie Wonka Golden Ticket to the river. Would anybody be interested in teaming up for a permit on the Chama? I have cousins with 21 acres of land near the takeout for our Apres Paddle pleasure.

Is the Chama generally canoe friendly? I know it's class III in spots, but is the water deep enough during regular spring flows?

I am putting in for a Chama permit for the first or second week in June. I PM'ed the OP, but he didn't respond, so is anyone else in? It looks like it's easier from the regs on the website to get a weekday permit than a weekend permit- call-in as opposed to lottery. Does anyone know the specifics on this? Anyone want to double up to increase chances? Is that a bad question to ask on a public forum?

A weekday permit is no good, flows are only certain fri-sunday. We'll be putting in several applications for may-june, let you know if you like, but we bring the children.

I'm putting in 4 apps, but its probably a donation to BLM is all. On the chance I do get one, I'll post it here; think the permits good for 12 or 16 folks. You can go before May 1 w/o a permit, but its cold it that canyon in April. Week-day flows in June would be sketchy, but it could happen.

I'll be bringing the kid and my mom. I guess that makes sense about weekday flows. I'll put in for a weekend and hope for good flows during the week as I can leave on amoment's notice after June 1st.
