Queets River Olympic NP

Anyone have paddling experience on the Queets? Whats the class? Knowledge of how far into Olympic NP it has been paddled? Looking at a possible project for next spring which involves paddling the Queets.

The headwaters flow through class 5+? glass canyon which has been rumored to have been run once. The lower section is mostly Class 2 with at least one class 4+, Matheeny Creek , that flows into it. This creek also has some promising tributaries. My paddling partner and I are waiting for clear weather to get a chopper off the ground to go have a closer look. I'll keep you posted!

Paddled Matheeny Creek (the lower) just two weeks ago with some pretty good flow in there and it is class 4 type of run. The upper is supposed to have some stout action I hear though.

Enjoy if you hit it up. They had just had a huge wind blow down up that way and the roads are blocked by a lot of wood. bring a nice big chainsaw or band saw if you are going up there anytime soon.
