Pumphouse at 780 or Salida area at 780

Which one would be better for a float/fishing trip with an 11 year old whom has never been on a raft. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks, Keith

Pumphouse for sure. Big Horn Sheep canyon on the ark is fun, but not wilderness. Fishing should be great on both runs. Pumphouse offers better scenery. The run is more secluded wilderness, and the couple little canyons are awsome. So is big horn, and you can see 14'ers from that run. but if it were me, i would do the pumphouse.

Sorry, but fishing is better on the Ark.

That is why I am unsure. Colorado/Pumphouse is very much over fished.

If you run the Ark with a child who's never rafted before, you may want to either run from Johnson Village (launch at Wilderness Aware for $3) to Ruby Mt. (The Milk Run, all Class II) or from Stone Bridge to Salida or Big Bend (Class II w/ one easy Class III). These are a couple of the tamer reaches above Salida.

Have a good time!
