Poll: eyes open or closed when rolling?

Another post on the board got me thinking about this.

Its not like you can see anything in the water around here anyway.

Closed. Its not that I don't want to know what's happening around me. Its that I don't want my lids peeled back or flush my eyeballs. In most situations I know what is happening around me. And if my eyes are open murky waters and white water would limit what I do see. So i say "might as well keep em closed."

closed for combat roll, open for practice rolls

I usually have them closed during a combat roll as instinct is to close my eyes when I hit the water. I open my eyes when I practice in flatwater. I like to see my setup and the blade to make sure that I am rolling correctly. I have opened them up before doing combat rolls after I miss one and want to make sure that I can get it.

I find it helpful to keep one eye open and one eye closed when rolling. Which eye is open and which is closed depends on which side I'm rolling on.

Closed, its not like you can do anything upside down anyway.

I tend to close my eyes and worry about getting the heck out of the water. I think a river trip looking down at the water is a lot more fun. What can you do if you do see something hairy?
