Play wave for LaPorte?

Want a play wave for the Poudre River in LaPorte? I need support to try and make it happen!

I have put together a proposal to create a whitewater feature on the Poudre River at Lion's Park in LaPorte. So far the responses from the County have been favorable. I am formally presenting this idea (in a scheduled time slot) to the Larimer Parks Advisory Board meeting on April 13th, at about 6 pm.

I have been told that the proposal will be stronger if there were other supporters present at the meeting. So I am asking for warm bodies to show up and support this idea. If you can, and will, attend this meeting, please call and let me know by Sunday night (11th April) so I know who will be there - 970-224-4549.

If we band together, we might just pull this off.

Mandy

Good Luck. The farmers own that water! Money talks. Compare the flow from Poudre Park area to East of Fort Collins. Farmers suck it dry when they want it. We complain, but we love the fresh produce from Nebraska and Eastern CO. I would be there, but have plans on a secret river. Your intentions are good. Super SS? Mid May? E-

We're aiming to go with the flows ...

For the record, the proposal I have generated is not asking for any changes to water allocations, but to design a feature that will 'work' with as little as 100-200 cfs (I understand this can be done), which, by current records could make it usable from mid-April to mid-September.

I'll be there. This is an important meeting and it may determine whether the County picks the ball up. The response by the County has been very positive so there's existing momentum that we want to maintain.

If you can possibly make it, the Board meeting is in the vicinity of Carter Lake (see the first message for the address), and it's scheduled for discussion at 6 pm -- there should not be a lot of time just sitting around. The preliminary evaluation showed about a 9' drop in the river in the Lion's park area, and this is enough for features similar to those on the St Vrain in Lyons.

cheers,
johng

Sorry for the short lead time. I think the presentation went well, but we will have to wait for the executive board meeting to find out what they thought of it. Gary Buffington also wants me to present to the Open Lands Board at the end of the month (although he didn't say which month). I will post the time, date and location when I know more.
