odds of picking up a Rogue no-show permit?

Hi Rogue veterans. We're thinking of heading up to the Rogue at the end of this week with the hope of picking up a no-show permit. Group size is about eight people. What do you think of our chances? Thanks!

You have a good chance, but it may take a day or 2. You can make some day trips above the permit section tell you pick some up.

8 is a tough sell, but it isn't impossible. You could go camp near the ranger house, and plan on showing up every day at 6:30 or so to find out. Even if that falls through, it is still a nice area, and you can do day runs above the wild and scenic.

A permit for 8 could be tough. The weather is supposed to be nice the rest of the week and there is only a low chance of showers over the weekend which won't help your chances. Pack up and be ready to go. Check for cancellations later this week. Openings often appear a day or two ahead of time.

Might be worth splitting your group up if you can. take off late one afternoon and have the other half leave the next morning early.

There are 40 spots on Thursday and twenty spots on Saturday. Good luck. FWIW.
