Oddball paddle help?

I've been searching for something that may not exist.

Help?

For reasons that are clear only to me, I'm looking for a whitewater kayak paddle that has all of these features:
-Biggish (~700) downturned "play" blades--like a Werner Player or Sidekick.
-197cm, 30* feather.
-Bent shaft.
-And the clincher--it *needs* to be a breakdown paddle, either 2 or 4 piece.

I've done heaps of web searches--none of the 'big names' make anything like this. At the insistence of several knowledgeable folks I've contacted Werner, Lendal, and Lightning directly. Werner says no--they won't do a breakdown bent shaft for whitewater, only touring. And they say a touring paddle won't hold up to where I'm going.

No response from Lightning or Lendal.

Anyone have any ideas?

Or, does anyone have an old Lendal breakdown they wanna part with?

Lastly, has anyone had success cutting a one-piece bent shaft paddle and adding a ferrule? I've got a new Player sitting here that I keep eyeballing with this in mind, but thus far haven't had the huevos to take a hacksaw to it.

Any help appreciated.

Somebody on here has a blog that details making a breakdown. Seems pretty reasonable to do if you have the inclination. Sorry, can't remember who that was.

That is actually a great blog post about making a breakdown paddle.

It looks like you might have to find an international dealer for Lendal and order your paddle that way. I have seen the Lendal breakdown paddles in action and they are pretty solid.

I have a lendal that is a 4 piece bent shaft breakdown that you can set the angle on. I'm not selling it, but I would recommend that for your needs.

I was hoping that someone just like you would pop up--but be willing to part with it!

Thanks to the others for the link--that is indeed a killer detailed writeup on how-to. In a week if I haven't found anything else I'll put blade (and epoxy) to my bent Player and see where it takes me.

Call Peter Mitchell -- 603 523 7004

He does this all the time, for his Mitchell paddles and others.

Thanks for that. Ended up ordering one of his custom paddles with everything I needed--breakdown, bent, downturned blades, etc...

And then I took the hacksaw to mine...

Cheers,
